Wide Mouth Mason

The three piece band, Wide Mouth Mason are 100% Canadian, originating from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Shaun Verreault provides lead vocals and guitar. Earl Pereira covers bass and backup vocals. Safwan Javed's drumming complements the other two band members, pulling it all together.

The band had its beginnings four years ago in 1996 with their initial, independent release "The Nazarene." Since, they have produced two more albums, a self titled "Wide Mouth Mason" and "Where I Started."

The band's first of many big breaks was opening for Big Sugar, who is also playing at SookeFEST this year, on an across Canada tour. The attention gained from this tour lead to their signing with Warner Music Canada in late 1996. The band recorded their debut album on the label at Greenhouse Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia with producer Joel Van Dyke. This new CD, released in March of 1997, was a remake of their independent release with two new tracks added.

Since, the band has opened for acts like Collective Soul, Moist, and ZZ Top. And not too soon after had the Matthew Good Band opening for them on a Canadian tour. Wide Mouth Mason has also played for MuchMusic's Snowjob and alongside Big Wreck, Moist, and Hole in EdgeFEST 99, another cross Canada music festival. They are well known across Canada and in the United States, where their record label is Atlantic Records.
