Limestone

Limestone is an emerging young band from Victoria, British Columbia who perform original alternative music - heavy, melodic and diverse. Formed in the Spring of 1994, when a friend introduced Eric Hogg (guitar & lead vocals) to Adam Sutherland (drums and percussion). Adam & Eric hit it off musically right away, trading licks on guitar & drums. Adam's brother, Chris Sutherland, joined them on bass guitar. Eric claims they survived those early years living on "rainwater & small rodents". Eric Hogg is the main songwriter, although, all members contribute to the bands unique sound, whose influences include such bands as Tool, Soundgarden, Finger Eleven, Tea Party, Nine Inch Nails, Incubus, and Silverchair.

Limestone's popularity began in 1997 when they began playing the club scene. Some of the band's highlights include Extreme 107.3, where regular airplay of their single "Oblivion" gets them noticed on the island's music scene. The Oblivion EP, a three song CD, was completed in 1999.

One of their major accomplishments was playing NEWMusicWest '99 at the Starfish Room with Cadillac Tramps, Alley Boys and Midge. They have also played NEWMusicWest '98, main stage with 54-40 (SookeFEST99), Matthew Good Band (EdgeFEST99), and Pure. Limestone has also been featured on the YTV Youth Achievement Awards, and "Top Ten" Much West - three years running!

Terry David Mulligan interviewed Limestone at NMW 98 143 Records regarding a demo deal with Arnold Lanni (producer of Our Lady Peace and Finger 11) WAIL 97- Limestone placed first of 17 bands at WAIL 97 "Battle of the Bands" 12 song CD. Limestone's first independent CD was released in November 1997.
